There is no denying that owner Herman Stes was overjoyed when he saw Arnaud Gaublomme riding his Plato De Muze Z (Plot Blue x Erco Van ‘t Roosakker) to victory in the 7-year-olds class (presented by Zangersheide). Since this summer, the 61-year-old Antwerp citizen is enjoying his retirement. But as we all know, horse owners can always keep busy.
Herman bought Plato at the age of two. Herman: “Actually I did not really care for his looks when I first saw him, but I immediately knew that I should not let this exceptional horse shoot. He made quit theimpression when in action, was born at Joris De Brabander’s Stables – who is one of the best breeders in the world -, came warmly recommended by Filip Van Assche – whose know-how I respect very much – and has an impressive pedigree. His dam is Iphigenia De Muze, who competes at 1.60 level with rider Grégory Wathelet.”
Sports and breeding
Until a few months ago, Thomas De Wit was Plato’s rider. Together they placed 6th in the Longines Global Future Champions Week For Young Horses at Valkenswaard earlier this summer. Herman: “Plato has learned a lot from Thomas. There was also an immediate connection with Arnaud, as you can see. Plato De Muze Z is so eager to jump clear. I have often had the opportunity to sell him. But I think that I will look into his breeding potential now. He has covered five mares this year, mainly from Thomas and myself. So I actually never really focused on it. But now that could change quickly. ”
Arnoud was also very satisfied with his performance: “Plato and I immediately clicked. I hope we can collect a lot of great results together. This victory at Jumping Mechelen is cetainly one to never forget. Nowhere, the atmosphere is as exiting and unique as in the Nekkerhal. “
