World Cup Grand Prix of Basel: Martin Fuchs, unbeatable on home soil.

Just as last year, Martin Fuchs and his amazing Clooney (Cornet Obolensky) were best in CSI5* Basel World Cup qualifier Grand Prix. A duifficult track and a very short time allowed saw only three rider and horse combination exit the ring on a clean sheet and qualify for the shortened track of this first world cup final qualifier of the year. First to give the track a try would be Holland’s Marc Houtzager and his spectacular Sterrehof’s Calimero (Quidam de Revel) who following their 2nd place in Friday’s Longines Grand Prix of Basel, stopped the clock faultsfree in 38’84 to finish 2nd again. Next to go, Belgium’s Pieter Devos and his speedy ride Apart (Larino) flew and were faster but one rail down at the econd last fence set them for 3rd when home hero Martin Fuchs and his wonderful Clooney, made it look easy and crosssed the timers faultsless in a time of 37’71 to claim a new world cup win in front of their home crowd.
